Ilene Anenberg

Painter Ilene Anenberg’s work reflects her fascination with color relationships and simple natural forms. Inspired by the landscapes of New York (particularly Hunter Mountain), New Hampskire, and Vermont, the vibrant colors fields and forms in her work are drawn from the artist’s interpretation of the land, sea and sky. Influenced by the works of Mark Rothko and Milton Avery, Anenberg explores explosive color fields that suggest landscapes and more abstract forms through her work. As a counterpoint, the color fields merge with soft edges, or are framed by more intense hues, suggesting an impending transition, or an undercurrent of mood. Her expressionistic explorations of nature have created a rich, multi-layered body of work.
